Hannah Stillson
AstroCamp Summer Camp Director
My love for summer camp began when I was just 4 years old. I vividly remember my first day at camp and meeting my first counselor, her name was Daisy. This is a core memory for me, making this my “why”. Why I do what I do is to create these core memories for as many kids as I possibly can and give back the magical experience of summer camp that I am so grateful I got to experience as a kid. That initial experience sparked a lifelong passion for summer camp that has only grown since.
I spent my early years at Valley Trails Summer Camp, attending from age 4 to 15. At 15, I became a counselor, leading the youngest age group—the 4 and 5-year-olds—for the next five summers. I was known as “Pup” at camp, marking the start of my journey in the camp
world. From age 12 to 15, I was a camper at Toyon. Experiencing sleepaway camp for the first time, earning my scuba certifications, and making lifelong friendships during those four years left a lasting impact on me. For the past four summers, I’ve worked at Camp Fox. I started as a crew captain and counselor for the A crew, then advanced to head counselor, and later was assistant director for two summers.
Outside of camp you can find me slacklining, scuba diving, travelling, hanging out with friends and family, or trying new coffee shops! In 2022 I graduated from Northern Arizona University with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary and Early Childhood Education. My passion for working with kids and education led me to teach kindergarten and second grade in Arizona over the past two years. I have a huge passion for education, and a love for hanging out with kids and making a difference in their lives! I can’t wait for a spectacular summer under the stars!
A hundred years from now it will not matter how much money I had in the bank, what kind of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove… but the world may be a better place because I made a difference in the life of a child.
